Thailand is open for business again
The country has been recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic for more than two years, and it’s now ready to take the next step in its recovery process: attracting more than 30 million tourists in 2023.
The country’s tourism sector has seen a surge in interest since it reopened to foreign travellers. The number of domestic visitors has increased by 19% year over year, while international arrivals are up 16%. This strong growth shows that Thailand is back on track after years of economic stagnation due to COVID-19.
Senior government officials have expressed confidence that the country’s economy has entered its recovery phase after more than two years of negative growth due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The main driver of the recovery is tourism, which has rebounded strongly after the devastation wrought by pandemic-induced travel bans and quarantines.
